Last Easter the wife and I decided last minute to go to Vegas. Stayed at Paris which I used to feel lucky at but no more. All we did was drink and gamble - no shows, only a couple of sit-down meals.
By the last day I was down more than I had ever been. So the last evening, I went over to Aria as I had a tiny bit of free play and figured I would use it up before we left, in spite of the fact that I really do not like the feel of that casino.
Well, I went over and lost my free play at the slots. Before I left, I decided to put a hundred in the bar-top VP. Haven't been back to Aria since.
For me the trend seems to be the bigger casinos on the Strip beat me up. I have never done well at Caesars , Paris , Venetian. My games of choice tend to be VP; DD and craps.
Although some of the new slots always gain some of my attention; most recently Willy Wonka and Titanic. Gold Coast is my current lucky charm.
I find it is better to think about it as cost per hour of gambling entertainment. Winning is fun but the reality often comes down to how slowly you can lose and still be entertained.
The worst I have done is losing 10 straight hands of BJ at bellagio in about 15 mins. This is not an accident or a matter of luck.
The "luckiest" casinos are those which offer the player the best odds on their games. Yes, you can get lucky and beat the odds at any casino for a day or short term, but overall the odds will prevail.
That is the entire basis of gambling from the casino's POV. Play long enough and they will end up ahead. How much ahead depends on how much people play, and at what odds.
In answer to the question: Almost all of our play is done at off-strip casinos, with Orleans getting the bulk of it. So Orleans is the recipient of most of our "bad luck" but also the scene of our best returns.
From a percentage standpoint, that will be pretty hard to beat. Westgate has been very good to me lately.
